Here's why Wix is failing to accommdate people.
Hello everyone as a website developer hosted on wix the website builder i can say the host platform definitely has room for progress I'll explain and you'll see the level of auditing I've really done on the tools I use everyday from wix.
Moderation And Safety
Considering the fact Groups, blogs, and other apps made by wix are all available on Spaces by wix and website while groups and blogs both having the capability of users publishing comments and posts with the fundamental difference of groups allowing user created groups there needs to be General platform settings for moderation purposes regarding comments, posts, chats, accounts, etc social and Community platforms need better moderation control generally regardless the application of course contacts and adjacent statuses like site member and blocked need to exist so user accounts exist however blocked sounds like you're settling a social dispute not using administrative actions it's like saying you're going to block someone because they broke the policies it would sound better if you say terminated or banned instead of that obviously adding better automation and function methods to moderate the platform would be also very helpful hell you can't even remove people's badges or automatedly block or mute them honestly safety should not be a suggestion point blank.
Social Experience Upgrades
Instead of just having the generic follower/following list why not add friends lists users can send and receive friend requests depending on user visibility others can also see the publicly visible friends list they could also set their friends list to private at any time additionally instead of just some random user being able to use member-to-member chat for chat groups there should be chat requests allowing someone to send one message and forced to wait until the other accepts a chat request allowing the conversation to continue users should also be able to block each other allowing for more better self-moderation of the platform as blocking allows the user to not see anything regarding that exact user whether it be the profile or content from the profile with a distinct block list allowing people to unblock each other at any time this does not stand as an administrative action but a user safety feature.
Content And social feeds
Wix video already allows you to Showcase YouTube content of all formats shorts, streams, videos, using playlist or Channel URL links you can easily create channels through Wix that can be visible on Spaces by wix and website however you can't add Instagram or TikTok let alone change the video box from long form ratio to short form ratio also known as portrait making it so short form content is left looking weird in a box not meant for it honestly adding those would be a fast track to having more influencers wanting to use the platform to Showcase their content adding more social features depending on the social platform being embedded in through the feeds would also be quite convenient like YouTube comment sections can actually be used for that one video fixing how Wix video elements show on mobile so there's no black space is also very helpful as they look ugly on wix preview mobile editor and live site.
Automations and quotas
Wix has some intense quotas marketing emails are usually capped around 200 meanwhile Automations have quotas, badges can't be removed automatically, there is no action to block an account, Sending emails have quotas these are multiple identifiable failures to put that into perspective I'm only scratching the surface, to save on email quota and avoid destroying sender reputation and get communications through without hitting someone's spam folder everything from marketing moderation Etc usually goes through notifications which don't have quota you think I'd request a feature but that is just a glorified feedback and suggestions button no different from the usuals honestly they want you to feel herd but you're not always heard.
Hell bandwidth will shut down your whole entire browser website within a matter of minutes if you have too much traffic so avoiding botswarms are necessary spaces by wix would become the only Refuge when the platform's down for a month all of these limitations are truly vulnerabilities that prevent a website from scaling it's good for a small content creator on YouTube though for businesses and communities it's a harsh experience if you're using only $0 budget and time so patience is needed unless you're willing to pay consistent subscriptions just to use half the things a normal website should have you're basically scraping the bottom of the barrel if you're not willing to pay the only thing keeping this platform active is my resilience and determination honestly when owning a website unless you're willing to pay money to have a sustainable secure platform using Wix your shit out of luck now don't get me wrong my provider is very useful though unless they make these changes that I mentioned and lower quotas more having a platform is truly not supportable they chase profit in fact go to their app market that I use there's more monetized apps an actual free service apps even most are tailored towards banking shopping or other things that relate to money transactions either way if you believe security should be less of a suggestion and more of a priority not a bill then you truly understand my values make money but don't leave sustainability as a suggestion or a billing pipeline.
Other developers can always request a feature by going to their request a feature form on they're publicly visible roadmap.
