Google's basically making storage & external control worse.

Google users, be aware that the company is notifying people about an upcoming update to their storage policies, which includes new controls to give you more authority over your Android backups. I received an email about this sometime last night or yesterday.

In 29 days, all data in your Android device backups will start counting towards your Google account storage limit. Currently, photos, videos in Google Photos, and MMS data already contribute to your storage usage. With the new policy, call history, device settings, and app settings will also be included. This may increase the storage used by your device backup, and if you don't free up space or upgrade your plan, backups will pause. However, they are introducing detailed app backup toggles in your Android backup settings. If you use Android 9 or higher, you can choose which data types and specific apps to back up, ensuring you only use storage for what's most important to you.

This change personally annoys me because they estimate my Android device backup will increase by 0.01 GB. I've used 6.22 GB of my 15 GB storage. Although this is a minor change, it still bothers me because we are already heavily limited. Backups are meant to help us recover data, but now we have to constantly manage our backup data. Additionally, call history will count towards storage, which means scammers and spammers could have more influence over your storage. How do you feel about this? Let me know in the comments below.

Important Warning - Exercise caution, as there is a reasonable suspicion that Google's recent updates to your storage limits might be harmful. Messages and call history, including both incoming and outgoing calls, now contribute to your storage usage. This also includes message attachments, and device settings such as display preferences, language settings, and Wi-Fi configurations might be included in the storage calculations. Unwanted calls, like spam and scams, can now effectively impact your storage because they are hard to prevent unless you block their phone numbers and emails and register with the Do Not Call Registry. However, even this might offer limited protection, as malicious individuals can use different emails and numbers to reach you. Although it may seem minor, this update means that device utility data, such as settings and logs, will now count towards the backup quota. As a result, instead of having a separate free allocation for this data, your entire device backup will now share the same limited space as your photos, personal documents, and emails. Consequently, users who are nearing their storage limit may encounter issues. To reduce unwanted calls, avoid publicly sharing your phone number and only provide it to trusted contacts like AuraWulf and other application connections and trusted individuals.

Here's the stuff that I was provided in email for help purposes so you're ready - All provided urls are from a relevant email regarding these updates results and data may vary
