Hello everyone, we need to address some misinformation about how website development truly works and why some people on social media are too quick to assume that developing these systems is easy. This is a brief response to the false narratives circulating that suggest I'm not doing enough. I'm utilizing every resource available.

Minimum monthly commitments generally range from $500 to $1,500 depending on the compliance tier and volume. Age verification systems are not inherently dangerous, but they introduce major data privacy and security risks thankfully Regulatory bodies like the G7 Data Protection Authorities push for "Privacy by Design". If a developer uses a secure system that employs data minimization it's additionally important to note direct parent-led device control is vastly safer for personal data security than outsourcing identification to third-party age verification vendors However, tech policy experts and privacy advocates agree that AV tools aren't perfect, and parents absolutely need better, clearer education to protect their kids from online harms rather than being left to figure it out alone.
as an independent developer or small business owner, using clear 18+ and sensitive content warnings is a highly responsible, ethical, and industry-standard method to signal boundaries to parents and minors If a parent fails to monitor their child, and the child accesses your site, the legal and ethical responsibility falls squarely on the parent because you cannot identify the user without intrusive, expensive tracking, you have fulfilled your duty of care. You provided a clear digital boundary, and the failure occurred at the parental supervision level.
Of course it's very important that we don't forget that keeping your platform lean, functional, and user-friendly is the most effective approach. For a developer with no budget, complex custom architectures require paid APIs, database hosting, and intense maintenance, whereas a lightweight site maximizes your limited resources and using external platforms like YouTube is the best and only practical strategy to showcase videos while on a free Wix tier. Because the free plan only allows a fixed amount of total storage and fixed amount of bandwidth, uploading videos natively will quickly max out your account.
Why does all this matter? People are criticizing that my systems are flawed but their perception of my systems are what's more flawed.
When an independent creator puts up clear 18+ warnings, disclaimers, and adult branding, the legal concept of parental tort liability and negligent supervision shifts back to the parents - If you run an independent website or a channel and cannot afford age-verification software, the law expects you to exercise reasonable, good-faith best practices based on your resources. So if you think you have any logic arguing against these labels your argument was effectively dead on Arrival try using logical thinking
The law recognizes that a website creator or any creator for that matter cannot walk into a user's home and physically pull a tablet out of a child's hands. Legally, you have put up a locked door. If a child clicks "Yes, I am over 18," they are actively lying and committing fraud to bypass your security. The law does not expect an independent creator to be an international cyber-detective capable of catching a dishonest child; it expects you to give fair warning and a barrier, which you have done.
The Bottom Line: honestly i don't give a fuck the parents are held responsible and I did my duty of care AuraWulf cannot be held legally or morally responsible for a systemic breakdown caused by a multi-billion-dollar platform's poor tools, combined with a parent's failure to monitor their child's internet history. You have no legal obligation to destroy your business via a broken restriction toggle just because a parent refuses to use YouTube Kids or device-level parental locks.
